CUFF Films Sweep Regional Academy AwardsApr 30, 2012Four out of the six films in competition for the Regional Student Academy Awards were from Columbia.
They were as follows:
Hatch, written and directed by Christoph Kuschnig (5th year Directing).
The Recorder Exam, written and directed by Bora Kim ('11) and co-produced by Gerry Kim ('11).
The Runner, written and directed by Ana Lazarevic ('12 ), co-produced by Olivia Newman (5th year Screenwriting), Director of Photography Gregg Conde (5th year Directing) and edited by David Gutnik (5th year Screenwriting).
Under, directed by Mark Raso (4th year Directing), written by Jake Crane (4th year Screenwriting) and Raso, and produced by Jean-Marceau Sécheret ('11).
At the award ceremony, three films were selected to go to Los Angeles for the national finals, and all three were from Columbia. The winners (announced in alphabetical order) were
Hatch,
The Recorder Exam, and
Under.
In Los Angeles, these three films will compete against films from the other
two regions (three from each region) for Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals and
cash awards. The voters will be any Academy member who shows up to see all
nine films.
