Directors Bio:

Farouk Thoyer earned a Master’s degree with honors at the University of Paris 7, specializing on the life and career of Mexican cinematographer, Gabriel Figueroa. He followed up his master’s thesis by publishing an article on Gabriel Figueroa in the French film review, Positif (May 2000). In 2003, he enrolled in the Columbia graduate film program with a concentration in directing. In 2006, he was a finalist for the Sundance Filmmaker’s Lab. This year, his previous short film, “Love is Real,” was bought for distribution by a Canadian film channel. “The Art of Suicide” is his thesis film.
